about

I’m emmie and I run a business called in Defence of Joy, inspired by a protest sign I made in 2021.

We live in a world where marginalised people are fighting for a right to exist, to live and stay alive. While we deserve so much more, which is why defending joy is crucial. Joy, light-heartedness, and pleasure are part of what makes our lives worth living.

Our lives are linked, to our communities, our friends and (chosen) families, we are more than individuals. We are part of larger collectives.  At the same time we can heal, get un-stuck, and find joy in a collection of different ways. This is how the Joyful Movement Collective came to be. A collection of different ways to heal, get un-stuck, and (re)find joy. Not only as individuals, but from an understanding we are connected to others.

The things that bring me joy are movement, running, and creating things. This is part of what brings me home to myself and where I find connection.

Training and coaching people has been a part of my work for more than 15 years. More recently I decided to build on this experience, and pursue coaching-training.

I get excited about seeing people surprise themselves going things they previously didn’t think they could do. It always feels like an intense privilege to play a role in these processes.
